Good thing my kids reminded me there was no school today. Last night I was all ready to load up their backpacks and get them set to roll in the morning. As it was, we were all grateful for the extra-long weekend that allowed us to catch up on some much-needed sleep. The girly and I had a sleepover in the family room over the weekend, and we hit the hay a little late. Add that to an already growing sleep deficit, and you had a couple of tired gals. A movie was about all we had the energy for today (well, that and hauling around neighborhoods selling more Girl Scout cookies. Thin Mints, anyone?)
We decided a trip to the theatre would be the perfect way to spend the day off today, so we ventured out to a movie Mister Man had been wanting to see called Hotel Transylvania. You’d think most movie moguls would know by now that any film that includes Adam Sandler in the credits is going to careen toward the DVD bin at warp speed, but there he was voicing the lead character.
I spent most of my time trying to figure out what famous actors were providing the voices for the other characters. Turns out it isn’t my greatest talent. Cee Lo Green? Couldn’t place him. Maybe if he’d said to someone in a sing-songy voice, “Forget youuuu!” I thought the human in the film was Owen Wilson. Wrong again.
My kids enjoyed the flick, and I imagine they would enjoy a second viewing once it does hit the DVD shelf, which should be, like, yesterday. I did get a few chuckles out of it, so it wasn’t a total bust. I loved the lady calling bingo. Plus, there was popcorn, which is always a bonus. In case you’re considering seeing it with the littles in your life, here’s a peek:

From Karyn Climans:
Thank goodness my sons have outgrown these movies. They want thriller/action movies now … can’t wait to see the new James Bond in November!

From Wombat Central:
James Bond is always a winner. I’m eager to see the newest in the Bourne series–heard it didn’t get as good reviews as the Matt Damon ones, but I thought it looked pretty exciting.
From The Zany Housewife:
I had some awesome comment about movie popcorn when I got distracted by the comment about Bond.
I love Bond. And Daniel Craig. And Daniel Craig as Bond.
And that’s all I’ve got.
p.s. Hi

Well, hello, sweet Zany! So nice to see you here. I’ve been equally bad, I’m afraid. I, too, am upping my stalking skillz.
